Djuma Game Reserve - named from the Shangaan for "roar of the lion" - is part of the world -renowned Sabi Sand Reserve and borders the Kruger National Park itself. As there is no dividing fence, Djuma's more than 10000ha is part of the vast Kruger Park ecosystem. We are located in the northern part of the Sabi Sand and entry is through Gowrie Gate. By road we are 1 1/2 hours from Hoedspruit, 2 1/2 hours from Skukuza, 3 hours from Nelspruit and about six hours from Johannesburg.

Djuma Game Reserve is owner run to ensure quality of service and an intimate atmosphere. The safari experience here is unique in that we do not only concentrate on the Big Five, but you can also learn about the history of the reserve and how the Tsongas once lived on this land alongside the animals, as well as studying the ecosystem in the area.

Vuyatela is an expression of modern South African culture. Each of the eight chalets or kayas is secluded in African bush. The bedrooms look out onto teak decks, which end in private plunge pools. Each chalet comprises of a separate lounge, bedroom, dressing room, bathroom with outdoor shower; AC, fans, mosquito nets, IDD telephone, 24-hour Internet access. Other facilities available include a gym and relaxation room; Internet library; bird-watching tower and aquarium; game viewing decks over waterhole. Rates inclusive of: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, fresh bakes and dinner; two game drives daily; a guided walk in the bush; selected drinks.

Guided visits to a nearby Shangaan village - a few minutes drive outside of Gowrie Gate - can be arranged.
