The two non-perennial rivers that majestically meander through the area attracts a diverse variety of birds and wildlife, including Lion, White Rhino, Buffalo, Leopard, Cheetah and other Africa game. Visitors are exposed to the magnificent views of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains from the reserves' natural vantage points - perfect for romantic sundowners.

KWENGA:-The 8 thatched chalets at Kwenga are designed to create a delicate mix of elegance and simplicity. Fine fabrics and exquisite finishes lend an African style to an interior where each chalet has a spacious en-suite bathroom. Each bedroom leads onto deep verandas that echo the ambience of an outdoor bush adventure. A stunning waterhole is situated close by and is frequented by all of the Game species affording guests wonderful sightings whilst enjoying a cocktail on the Terrace overlooking the waterhole. Dining under the African night-sky is an exceptional experience. At Kwenga, meals are served in the 'boma' where you are wrapped in the intimacy of the galaxy of stars above. After indulging in the refined and varied cuisine, relax around the camp fire or indulge in a cocktail, or fine wine at the Bar.

Early morning and evening game drives are conducted in open 4 x 4 Safari vehicles and together with Guided Walking Safaris are included in the quoted rates. Walks and drives are conducted by qualified Rangers. Sundowners are enjoyed at various breathtaking scenic spots. All of our staff at Umhlametsi are experienced, qualified and dedicated to the conservation of the Reserve. Umhlametsi is a wonderful venue for wildlife, birding, hiking, touring and golfing. It is close to the Orpen and Phalaborwa Gates of the Kruger National Park, the majestic Drakensberg and the spectacular Blyde River Canyon. Guided excursions to local tourist sites are available to our guests, offering an opportunity to visit the world renowned Kruger National Park, Blyde River Canyon, Pilgrims Rest, Cheetah Breeding Project, Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre, the famous White Lions as well as the Shangaan Tribal Village.

Child occupying with 2 adults – accepted when triple is available, if child is not older than 12 years of age – pays 50% of adult rate. Children 6-11 years occupying their own room with or without other children – pay full adult rate.
