CLIMATE |
The
Timbavati Reserve falls within a subtropical region.
Rain falls in summer season. The area can become very
warm at times, particularly during the build up to
the typical thunder storms.
The rainy season starts from October and usually lasts
until the end of March. The dry bush comes alive after
the rains, but game viewing become progressively more
difficult because the foliage becomes thicker and
the animals have more cover.
The best safari season is usually during the so
called dry season. The months from April to September
are cooler.
Although this is typically winter, the daytime temperatures
are pleasantly mild but the nights and early mornings
get cold.

TIMBAVATI
- GENERAL INFORMATION |
The Timbavati floodplain is an exceptional safari
location. The vegetation is made up of fine bushveld
trees and mopane shrub terrain.
The assemblage of wildlife is particularly rich and
boasts not only the Big Five experience but an extraordinary
profusion of bird and diverse animal life. Game viewing
is offered either from an open vehicle, or on foot
in the company of experienced rangers.
Flanking on the Kruger National Park, Timbavati comprises
a number of
private concessions which offer a selection of accommodation
services and safari experiences. Since there is no
enclosure between the reserve and the National Park,
animals move freely in and out.
Johannesburg is the best starting point for charter
or scheduled flights into the area. You either fly
straight to the lodge or to nearby Hoedspruit Airport,
where you will be met and transferred to the lodge
by road.
