ST
LUCIA - GENERAL INFORMATION |
St Lucia is a complex of
water, wetlands, reed islands, and forested dunes.
Lake St Lucia is home a wealth of fish, crocodiles,
hippo, antelope and bird life.
The eastern shores of the lake have towering, vegetated
dunes, which slant down onto endless beaches, sheltered
bays and offshore reefs famous for superb diving and
snorkeling.
The western shores have an abundance of marine fossils.
The area is also recognized as one of the best birding
spots in the country.
From October to February, leatherback and loggerhead
turtles arrive to lay their eggs along the beach.
A couple of months onward culminate in the eggs hatching,
and thousands of hatchlings make their way to the Ocean.
