SANDS CLIMATE |
The
summer rainy season starts in October. The area is
subtropical with hot rainy conditions with the occasional
thunder storm which tail off towards the end of March.
The dry habitat comes to life after the first rains
but game viewing becomes more difficult. The lush
vegetation obscures the visibility and it is harder
to spot animals in the thick undergrowth.
The dry winter season lasts from April to September.
The cooler conditions are an ideal time to visit
the bush. The lack of general water restricts animals
to focal areas and they are easy to locate.
Many trees and shrubs are deciduous and defoliate
in winter, thus offering excellent visibility of
the terrain. The number of insects also tails off
and the likelihood of getting malaria is at its
lowest.
