Rainy Season:
the climate is hot and humid in the rainy summer months
from
October - March.
Dry Season: The dry season lasts
over winter from April to September and the temperatures
are very pleasant with warm days and cool nights.

The rolling hills of Zululand, dotted with the typical
huts of Zulu villages, the amazing conspicuous and
idyllic coastline, make this South Africa’s
most alluring beach holiday destination. To add to
its appeal, Zululand is the location of greatest wildlife
parks and wilderness areas in the country. Hluhluwe-Umfolozi
Game Reserve, St Lucia Wetlands, Phinda Resource Reserve,
Ndumo Game Reserve and Rocktail Bay are excellent
wildlife parks with an abundance of plant and animal
life.
The area is particularly well suited for independent
travel and most locations can be accessed by car or
as part of a self drive itinerary, air charters are
also available for anyone with limited time wanting
direct access to some of the finest locations.
New toll roads link the northern Kwa-Zulu area to
Durban and within two hours drive you will find yourself
in some of the most unspoilt areas in the province.

Hluhluwe-Umfolozi
Park is a big five reserve offering good sightings of both
white and black rhino, elephant, lion, leopard and numerous
antelope.
The entire area is a bird-watchers haven especially around
the Greater St Lucia Wetland Complex of reserves. Here shore
angling, snorkeling and diving are also key draw cards.
Escorted wilderness trails offer a privileged encounter
for soul searchers who wish to explore their consciousness
in the wilds.
Leatherback and loggerhead turtles come ashore from late
October to February to lay their eggs in what is considered
to be one of the most important nesting sites in the world.
The area is also littered with marine fossils which speckle
the lake shore and vast coastline.
