JOHANNESBURG CLIMATE |
The climate in Johannesburg and Gauteng province
is pleasant throughout the year. The good climate
is one of Johannesburg’s main attractions.
Johannesburg is situated at a relatively high altitude
in relation to the rest of South Africa and has
a pleasantly mild climate.
Rainy Season: This is a summer
rainfall area with impressive electric and thunder
storms in February and March. It rarely becomes
hot and humid in the height of summer but at times
before the build up of an afternoon storm it can
get sticky.
Dry Season: April to September
is the cool dry winter season with bright clear
warm days and cold particularly in the mid-winter
months of June to August.

Jo'burg is the power house
of southern Africa. In fact it is the industrial, business
and communications hub for the larger part of Africa.
Since the gold rush era Johannesburg has been the pulsating
heart of a growing economy and of recent the catalyst
of Africa’s revival.
The northern suburbs exude a sense of affluence and
wealth. World class shopping malls stock an enormous
range of high quality products ranging from extravagant
goods to art work and jewelry.
A variety of fine dinning establishments offer exotic
flavors which appeal to a range of tastes.
The notorious settlement of Soweto, on the outskirts
of Johannesburg became famous during the apartheid regime.

regime. Home to millions of people living in shanty villages
with appalling conditions, however the area has gone through
a revival.
In the past Soweto was a no go area, but today a visit to
Johannesburg is incomplete without partaking in a township
tour and a stop over at a local "shebeen".
