THE
GARDEN ROUTE CLIMATE |
This is a temperate
climate which shares the summer and winter rainfall
systems, accordingly it rains throughout the year,
especially at night.
Summer: The months of November to March are hot, with
December to February providing very pleasant warm
weather.
Winter: June, July and August are the peak winter
months but the climate is favourable with clear and
warm days
The Garden Route has to be one of South Africa's most
attractive areas, with a glorious coastline, rivers,
lakes, indigenous forests, lofty mountains and a great
climate. |

GARDEN
ROUTE - GENERAL INFORMATION |
The Garden Route refers to the area between Tsitsikamma
and Mossel Bay, a region abundantly filled with visual
splendour.
Knysna, at the edge of a vast lagoon, is an excellent
base to explore the area. In addition to its outstanding
location, the holiday town has an excellent selection
of restaurants and shopping areas.
Explore the Indigenous forests of the Garden of Eden,
with the 1000 year old stinkwood, sneezewood, yellowood,
and blackwood trees. The self guided hiking trails,
mountain bike routes and picnic areas are easily accessed.
The town of Plettenberg Bay has excellent accommodation
and eateries, but the main draw card here are finest
expanses of immaculate beach that you can imagine,
with excellent bathing in the warm Indian Ocean waters.

The region
between Knysna and George consists of a network of estuaries,
lagoons and river courses. It is worth using some of the alternative
routes, if time allows, because they are far more scenic than
the National road. |
