CAPE
PENINSULA CLIMATE |
The Peninsula falls
within a Mediterranean climate with mild wet winters
and warm dry summers and typical spring and autumn
seasons. The weather can be unpredictable and the
wind can gust for days.
The north-westerly winds bring rain to the peninsula
from May - September. The coldest winter months are
June, July and August.
Dry Season: Summers start in November
with warm weather building up to the hottest peak
in December, January and February.
The summer southeaster can be relentless at times.
The wonderful spectacle of spring in August culminates
with the Cape Floral Kingdom bursting into flower. |

CAPE
PENINSULA - GENERAL INFORMATION |
"The Fairest Cape in all the circumference of
the Earth" is how the famous English explorer,
Sir Francis Drake, described this south-western corner
of South Africa.
The Portuguese sailors on the other hand named it
the "Cape of Storms" for the reason that
they struggled their way in adverse conditions. But
the term of endearment "The Cape of Good Hope",
has been the name which has remained.
With the distinguishing outline of Table Mountain
standing regally above Cape Town, this region became
the gateway to South Africa's foremost travel destination.
The Table mountain series extending along the Peninsula
is habitat to the rich Cape floral kingdom. The whole
area has now officially been declared with National
Park Status.
The Atlantic seaboard has an assortment of magnificent
beaches and retreats for horse riders, surfers and
beach goers.

Some of the many attractions are Kirstenbosch Botanical
Gardens, Chapman's Peak Drive, Long Beach, Scarborough and
Boulders.
Cape Point is an unspoiled location with an enormous profusion
of flora and small variety of animals. The area is scenic
delight of dramatic mountain and seascape.
Where in the world can you see the largest antelope in the
world, encounter penguins, watch whales, taste wine, play
golf, eat fresh lobsters and experience a wealth of flora,
all within a 20 mile radius.
