GUIDE TO LUXURY TRAVEL TO SOUTH AFRICA - INFORMATION & DESTINATION PLANNING

BOTSWANA

NAMIBIA

South Africa hosts a huge collection of safari regions and wildlife reserves, encompassing every possible landscape from deserts to forests, mountain chains and coastal reserves to a plethora of magnificent game parks - both public and private - teeming with wildlife species, birds and unique habitats.

Described as "a World in One Country" - South Africa is a land rich in history, culture and a great diversity of scenic splendor - from the pulsating rhythms of the bushveld, through deserts and along pristine beaches and cosmopolitan cities.

The renowned safari regions of South Africa which are home to some of the best game viewing in Africa, include the Kruger National Park Park and surrounding private reserves of Sabi Sand, Timbavati, and Makalali; Zululand's parks of Hluhluwe-Umfolozi and the wetlands of St Lucia, as well as the malaria free safari regions of Madikwe and Addo Elephant Park and the private Shamwari reserve. However, the greatest area for a Big Five experience is undoubtedly the private reserves surrounding Kruger Park.

A great way to end a safari is to spend some time along the South African coast - either in the wilds of Maputaland, the quiet serenity of the Garden Route around Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, or in Cape Town, with its beautiful beaches and world-class hotels. The Whale Coast around Hermanus provides some of the finest land based whale viewing in the world.

For true indulgence after a safari, consider boarding the Blue Train or Rovos Rail in Johannesburg for a two day journey down to Cape Town, with its magnificent Table Mountain, Cape Point Nature Reserve and the bustling Waterfront. Now firmly recognized as one of world's most beautiful cities, Cape Town is the ideal place to end a South African safari.
