Beach/Waterfront
The property is situated on a beach, near to the beach or in close proximity to a beach. For example this could apply to Cape Town or The Garden Route, where a long coastline is conducive to hotels and guesthouses close to or within walking distance to a beach. The same applies for a waterfront, e.g. Cape Town’s Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, in which you will find a number of hotels in all grades. Here you can walk out of a hotel and be in the centre of shops, restaurants and entertainment areas, as well as being on the waters edge (dockside) and able to take boat/harbour trips

Country/Farm/Estate
An estate would be situated in the countryside, a short distance from the town or city, or between towns and could be on a wine farm in the winelands area overlooking the vineyards, or a golfing estate, which would be a country hotel with a golf course. In these wonderfully wide-open spaces, there are also privately owned working farms which offer accommodation – in a cottage or even rooms in the farmhouse. Many locals offer up their homes this way.

In the Suburbs
The suburbs are usually a short way out of the city in peaceful residential areas of leafy avenues and open spaces, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Many residents offer their homes as a bed & breakfast venue or a guesthouse, and would be able to transfer you to a nearby beach, golf course or wine tasting. To get to the suburbs one could self-drive or book the road transfer with the tour operator or the accommodation owner himself or herself. There is often a shopping centre or mall close by for your convenience. Where you could sample the local cuisine at a choice of restaurant or maybe catch a movie, have a hairdo or just stop for coffee.

Nature/Forest Reserve
A nature reserve is generally a reserve with a variety of flora and fauna, indigenous to the country and even sometimes to the particular area. There would be no dangerous animals found in a nature reserve and therefore walking and hiking would be good activities to do in these areas. Rock art is also a possibility in mountainous nature reserves and can be found in some caves. A forest reserve is generally a heavily wooded area, usually state owned, and can be part of a national park or nature reserve. A section could be cleared for a lodge or guest house, as done in the Garden Route area.

Near Airport
This is a convenient option for passengers in transit. A hotel near the airport could be directly alongside the airport for convenience, if for instance waitlisted on a plane; this would be a good choice. The accommodation could be a short way from the airport within ten or twenty minutes drive and transfers to these hotels or guesthouses are usually arranged by the hotel itself and are often included in the nightly rate.
