Many of the more popular beaches are patrolled during the busy season. Swimmers need to stay within the bathing beacons which are controlled by competent professional lifeguards. African beaches have long been a popular attraction for tourism and recreation. Especially popular are the tropical seaside resorts and large white sand off the east coast of Africa. Of course our beaches are the place frequented by the most beautiful and trendy. Sun bathers and tourists use our beaches as a place for leisure and sport. The relatively soft formation of sand is comfortable to sit or lie on, and entering and exiting the water is far easier across a sand beach than a rocky shore. Africa has an active beach culture, particularly that of the surfing communities who seem to find endless time to explore their number one passion. One of the many attractions of a sand beach, especially for children, is playing with the sand, building sand castles and other constructs. Please be aware that nudity is generally not accepted on African beaches.
Going topless is acceptable to a degree. Some Muslim cultures strictly
discourage nudity and it is advised that you exercise the necessary respect.
