Boutique Hotels are a terminology in Africa which describes intimate, usually
luxurious or eccentric hotel environments. Boutique hotels distinguish themselves
from larger chain or branded hotels by providing an excellent and tailored
level accommodation, services and facilities.
Typically boutique hotels are furnished in themed, trendy and/or inspirational
styles. Although usually considerably smaller than a conventional hotel
(ranging from 3 to 100 guest rooms) boutique hotels are usually fitted
with a hi-tech infrastructure, air-conditioning, self-service bars and
often cable/pay TV.
Guest services are attended to by 24 hour hotel staff. Many boutique
hotels have on site dining facilities, and the majority offer bars and
lounges which may also be open to the general public.
In Africa these hotels mainly cater for discerning leisure travelers,
who place a high importance on privacy, luxury and service delivery. Many
corporate travelers doing business in the region have also opted to choose
boutique hotels for their specialist services and professional hospitality.
