Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp Location
Samburu Intrepids is set in the semi-arid desert of northern Kenya in the quiet western section of Samburu National Reserve. Only 50 minutes flight from Nairobi this luxury tented camp has been designed to recreate the romance and charm of an East African safari as undertaken in the early years of the 20th century.

Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp Attractions
Apart from a wide and diverse selection of game and bird life the park is also home to the Samburu people, cousins to the Maasai. They share much in common with the Maasai, including their language, their dress and most particularly their love of cattle.

Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp Facilities
On first appearance the lodge is reminiscent of a fantasy tree house set on stilts with its vaulted thatched roofs and sprawling wooden terraces. Set under the shade of the trees, the 25 tents are elevated on individual decks overlooking the river and shielded by thatched roofs. They are the best Samburu has to offer: spacious, comfortable, handsomely furnished with hand-crafted mahogany furniture, oversized four poster beds, en suite bathrooms with showers, twin hand basins, running hot and cold water and flush toilets and electricity. They are even equipped with fans to cool the tents in the heat of the day. Full English breakfast and buffet luncheons are served on an elevated deck under the dappled shade of the trees. A more formal candlelit dinner is served under the airy thatched roof of the main dining room.

Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp Additional Information
Game drives start at 6:30 in the morning; earlier you will have had tea or coffee served to you in your tent. After a late breakfast you can laze by the swimming pool or take an escorted camel safari across the river. From the elevated deck across the river you can do some bird watching. Most evenings the Club's naturalist is on hand to explain the different species to you and take you on bush walks in the mornings or evenings. You will be tempted to browse in the shop filled with interesting artefacts and local craftwork.
