In all our years of exploring
southern Africa, we consider our safari with Skeleton
Coast Adventure Safaris one of the most exhilarating
experiences yet.
We were hosted by the husband and wife team of Bertus
and Helga Schoeman, who ensured that our flying
exploration of the vast Namibian countryside was
as personal and special as you could imagine. They
often guide a safari together, especially when two
aircraft are needed for the trip.
Our journey started from Windhoek with a flight
to the Namib desert to meet up with the other participants.
Our party of nine passengers were comfortably seated
in the two Cessna aircraft.
The excitement never ended. From start to finish,
one is both bewildered by the vastness of the spectacular
ever changing landscapes and enthralled by the adventurous
components that blend into the desert encounter. |

Our hosts shared their knowledge with
us, by spontaneously talking to each other between the
aircraft. We all felt like participants in this great
journey rather than passive observers. Each passenger
was equipped with a headset which enabled everyone to
communicate during each of the flying stages.
The logistics that their team is able to provide in some
of the most remote part on earth is most impressive. The
immaculately maintained aircraft, the vast fleet of Landrovers
located conveniently at remote points along the route
enabling us to explore areas not to mention what it takes
to service three private camps requires enormous effort.
We feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to encounter
the Skeleton Coast in this way. I would not attempt to
describe the details of the journey as I would overwhelm
you with too many impressions. If you want to do something
really special and you have an adventurous spirit, I cannot
think of a better or more rewarding trip. |
