Feedback from Clients on their African safaris and vacations in 2005

"Elephant Plains was fantastic! I thought I'd type out what I wrote in my travel journal so that you could get an idea of our experience:

As soon as we were welcomed by the friendly staff and shepherded to the thatched bar and lounge for a pre-lunch drink, we knew we were in for a memorable three days. The lunch, afternoon game drive, dinner, early morning game drive, breakfast and bush walk set the tone and rhythm of our stay. Although the animals and birds we encountered were wonderful and exciting, it was the seemingly less spectacular moments that I will remember and cherish for a lifetime: The early-morning wake-up knock and the coffee and rusks on the veranda of the main lodge in the first rosy flush of dawn, the cold air bringing my senses to life. The evening sundowners - sipping cool, crisp white wine from my silver goblet as dusk fell over the African savanna alive with night sounds and smells and eddies of warm air rising from the baked red earth. The restful colors and shapes of the trees and grasses, stretching as far as the eye could see. The companionship we enjoyed with our "safari buddies". The afternoon dips in the icy pool as sunbirds sampled the nectar from the nearby aloes. The feel of the warm, winter sun. Prince, our Shangaan tracker, who seemed to magically conjure up animals like bushbabies and honey-badgers out of the darkness of night. The anthill larva that Prince showed us and the bark bracelet he made for my daughter on our bush-walk. Gideon, our ranger's deft way of maneuvering the large viewing vehicle past trunks and over dongas to find an elusive leopard. Sharing the wonder of discovery with my two children. The smell of our thatched rondavel and the feeling of sleeping in mosquito-net-draped beds. The canopy of stars in the sky as we enjoyed our dinner in the boma. The children and I will never forget our time there - an experience that defies description.

So, as you can see, Elephant Plains was an experience of a lifetime, and would not have been possible without you - thank-you for your unobtrusive, but thoroughly professional, efficient and friendly service. I have no hesitation in ranking it as first-class and would be happy for you to use my name as a reference."

"We had a wonderful stay at Tangala and enjoyed it so much we would like to book again! The service was first-class, the accommodation comfortable and the food was simple and delicious. We would rate the whole experience very highly, so please book us in again for three nights in April 2006. "

" We had a most wonderfull Botswana safari and adventure what with elephants tearing-up the area round our chalets in Okuti, lions grunting round our tent in Le Roo La Tau and being surrounded by huge elephants during our game walk at Gunns...The camps were all fine, the welcome was great, personel efficient, the guides especially Thobo at Okuti and Paul at Foot Steps were great personalities and friends of the grand children. Food was surprisingly good (Belgians are food fanatics). Though I was wary about Footsteps, we all, particularly the Grand children loved the place. When there we popped in at Shindi ( where my wife and myself stayed there about 7 years ago. The Shindi- Footstep area is our favorite. Le Roo La Tau has excellent accomodation but rather dry, dusty and we felt a bit sad for the huge herds of animals. We shall always remember our Okavango safari experience.

I chose British Airways.... The strike began just after we had registered in Brussels. We thought we had to give up right then! All finally worked out well thanks to an efficient BA employee at Heathrow, your company and Erica of Ker and Downey at Maun. We thank you for your help. I now know that one should work with an efficient travel agent, such as you, at destination rather than one at the home end. "

"Wilderness Safaris is absolutely first rate, everything about their operations was brilliant, and we had remarkable luck with game viewing...took about 800 photos.

We will definitely be back!! Probably not for a few years, but already we are talking about what we might do on our next safari! Chitabe and Xigera were excellent and Mombo was absolutely brilliant. "

"We had a great time. The trip was excellent and each of the places was first class. Thanks again for all of your help. We are planning to return to Africa about the same time next year, but with a larger group. Possibly as many as 12, including two 8 year olds. Thanks again for a great job. We had exactly the trip experience that we were hoping for when we decided to return to Africa in 2005. Cheers. "

"We had a wonderful time at Buhala Lodge and were so pleased to be there again after several years. The accommodation was lovely as were breakfasts and dinners.

Buhala is in a fantastic position and we watched herds of elephants and buffalo come to drink at the Crocodile River. "

"Everything was so wonderful, we came home and tried to figure out when we can return - the people, the accomodations, the service etc. Our only regret is we didn't see lions during our safari as they went to another area of the park when we first got there and they never returned.

Anyway, I would love to be a reference for any potential clients of yours. We had such an amazing experience, I would love to share my thoughts with them."

"Thanks so much for your kind help with reservations and everything regarding faxing maps etc. We had a lovely time at the River Lodge. The Honeymoon Suite was fantastic and we enjoyed every moment of our stay tremendously.

In retrospect, we believe that we spent our best days of the honeymoon during our two-night stay there! Food was great, and so were the personnel. We were lucky in seeing a lot of wild life, although not all of the Big Five. Visiting Big Game Reserves in Swaziland and also Lion Sand in Sabi Sands made that up. "

"Thank you. We had a great stay. We relaxed as soon as we set foot inside the Grootbos Lodge – what a great place. Food was fantastic and as wine buffs we enjoyed the wine tastings.

We saw whales at Hermanus on our way to Grootbos, sightings from the cliffs at De Kilders and fantastic sightings on the boat trip – including on going right under the front of the boat. Couldn’t ask for more than that – apart from a good breaching perhaps!! "

"I made the arrangements for my sister and her boyfriend.

They had a wonderful time at Thornybush Chapungu - said it was a lovely place, beautiful location and they really enjoyed their stay.

Now I am thinking about how I would love to go again!
If I do decide to go in the near future - I will definitely be contacting you to assist in making arrangements! "

"First of all, let me start by "Thanking you" immensely for organizing the whole trip with absolute professionalism.

The whole trip was first class....all the people in all the places were awesome. I had such a fabulous trip that I already want to return to Kwando in the dry season in May. Without a doubt, I would want to deal with Greenlife and you in particular to plan the trip. "

"We had a fantastic holiday with Bakubung definitely being the highlight. Everything exceeded expectations from the accommodation, food, setting, service etc. We hope to go back for another visit and will definitely recommend it to other people.

Thanks for organizing and I’ll be in touch when we need to book again! "

"We were very satisfied with Kwa Maritane. As we have found on our travels in southern Africa, four-star hotels (as this was) are significantly better as regards comfort and service than their European equivalent. The kids, who have not travelled with us on holiday for almost ten years were vastly impressed.

Pilanesberg National Park was also extremely impressive. We both thought this experience compared favourably or was as good as other drives we have had in famous parks, Etosha, Hwange, and Chobe in southern Africa and Tsavo East in Kenya. "

"Our trip was fabulous on every level. We were pleased with the accommodation and the service we received. The game in the Chobe was plentiful, the weather was fabulous.

The Chobe Marina Lodge.... We would recommend this place to anyone and it was very family oriented. The staff were very friendly and helpful from wait staff to the room maids to Sambo who took us on our game drives and the ladies at the tour desk. The rooms were lovely. One of the front desk staff even overheard us saying it was Ted's birthday the next day and arranged a cake on their own initiative.

We were really lucky with the game drives and saw elephants, hippos, giraffe, roan antelope, fish eagles, impala, many lions, crocs, baboons, etc.

Vic Falls was as magnificent as we remembered it to be. The people at the Vic Falls Hotelwere also very friendly and helpful. We still love the falls and the stark beauty of it...."
