·· Zambia Safari:
ZAMBIA OFFERS THE TRAVELLER THE WORLD-RENOWNED VICTORIA FALLS ON THE ZAMBEZI RIVER, PLUS A VARIETY OF SUPERB WILDLIFE REGIONS WHERE ONE CAN EXPERIENCE A SAFARI PAR EXCELLANCE.
HIGHLIGHTS & ATTRACTIONS
Zambia is the wild, untamed safari destination of Africa, where the traveler can still enjoy the safari ethos of a bygone era, with delightful tented safari camps where kerosene lamps flicker after dusk, mosquito nets drape your bed and the sounds of the night are intense, primal and glorious.
South Luangwa is the home of the walking safari, and there is a good choice of excellent camps in the area. The Lower Zambezi below Victoria Falls provides superb wildlife encounters on both land and water.
Perhaps most travelers will visit Zambia only for a visit to the mighty Victoria Falls, the "Smoke that thunders", as locals refer to it. This is the widest curtain of water in the world - almost 2 kilometers and plunging 300 meters into the gorge below. Livingstone on the Zambian side of Vic Falls has many superb safari lodges and hotels situated on the Zambezi river, and the area is well worth including in a tour after a safari to Botswana or South Africa.
The capital of Lusaka is linked by air to London and all major African cities, but easiest access is from Johannesburg by air or by road or light aircraft from the Chobe region in northern Botswana.
POLITICAL & ECONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS
A growing economy and a stable, democratic government are fast making Zambia one of the success stories of Africa.
