THE safari regions of Zululand present a very different experience to the fabled Kruger Park region and are well worth visiting, particularly for returning safari travelers.
The region is home to the mighty Zulu nation, so the area is steeped in culture and history. A superb network of roads make it ideal for self-drive safaris, particularly if visiting Phinda, Hluhluwe or Lake St Lucia.
St Lucia - a World Heritage Site - is the only place outside Botswana's Okavango where one can take a makoro canoe safari.
In the north is Rocktail Bay, a pristine marine reserve with endless beaches and superb diving.
