WE do not recommend any self drive programs in Zimbabwe at the moment. The lack of local support and fuel has become a limiting factor for providing a quality experience.
It is far better to make use of existing services for any transportation requirements. Local operators have access to fuel and are far more streetwise knowing how to negotiate with authorities and the regular roadblocks.
If you insist on driving yourself you should opt for the service of a local chaperone or guide to accompany you. It is also an option to arrange a convoy.
Victoria Falls is still visited by many travellers and remains relatively immune to much of Zimbabwe's problems. However, most of these visitors fly in from Johanesburg to visit the spectacular falls. The town is linked by good roads to neighboring Zambia and Botswana, so it can also be visited by overland travelers.
