Winters in southern Africa extend from mid May to early August - by
the experience of the northern hemisphere African winters are extremely

Rains usually scatter browsers and their persistent predators; dry periods predictably concentrate animals around residual water sources.
Migrant birds concentrate their activities in southern Africa during the summer months that usually last from October to March.
