The primary area of interest to those seeking romantic and secluded retreats is the Bazaruto Archipelago and mainland around Vilanculos, as well as the islands of Quilálea in the north and Inhaca, which lies a few miles offshore of the capital Maputo.
Mozambique is a perfect add on destination to a safari in South Africa, with daily air flights linking Johannesburg with Kruger and on to Vilanculos. There are also scheduled flights between Johannesburg and Maputo.
