Sable Mountain Lodge Location

Sable Mountain Lodge is on the edge of Selous Game Reserve, in Southern Tanzania. Flights to Matambwe airstrip are available from Arusha, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, and from the airstrip it is a 30 minute drive to the Lodge. There is a regular train from Dar es Salaam to Selous on Monday mornings, and Tuesday and Friday afternoons. From Kisaki station, it is a 20 minute free transfer to the Lodge.

The Lodge is in the north west area of Selous Game Reserve, and other tourists are relatively scarce here. Buffalo, elephants, zebra and other animals can be seen from the treehouse overlooking the lodge's waterhole, and occasionally you can even see the rare sable antelope from the lodge. Selous is also home to leopard, the rare African Wild Dog, hippo, crocodile and a host of birds.

The eight stone cottages are generously sized, and have ensuite bathrooms, and views from the verandah of the surrounding forest. The four luxury tents also have ensuite bathrooms, and views of the landscape from their private balconies. The restaurant serves international cuisine and has a well-stocked bar. There is also an open air restaurant and bar alongside the swimming pool, which is deep enough to truly refresh after a long day's safari.

Sable Mountain Lodge Children Policy
Children up to 12 years 50 percent if sharing with both parents. Any banda with only 2 people in it, adults or otherwise will be charged at the full rate. Children up to 12 years pay 50 percent for safaris, No children under 6.
