|Ron and Pauline Beaton, along with their eldest son, Gerard, have resided in this wild yet beautiful part of Kenya for many years. Their home, Rekero, caters to a maximum of ten guests. |
Rekero is situated in the midst of the Maasai Mara Conservation Area, part of the Serengeti Mara Ecosystem. This is home not only to the Beaton Family but also to the greatest concentration and diversity of wildlife in the world. Rekero is placed in a particular good area to see the big cats.

Here you will get the feel of being closer to a more natural Africa. Rekero is also unusual in that two of the senior guides are shareholders in the enterprise. This investment is reflected in the Beatons' close association with the local Masai and Ndorobo communities, which allows guests to visit them and learn far more, culturally and sociologically, than would normally be possible. Visits with Rekero guides are a million miles away from the stage shows normally seen by tourists at Masai villages. The culture of the Ndorobo, the traditional hunter/gatherers of this part of Africa, is absolutely fascinating but, sadly, fast disappearing.
Green and abundantly planted as the garden is, its most striking feature is the waterhole on the far side of the lawn at which the guest may have an extremely close encounter with the local wildlife as they come to drink. The waterhole is illuminated at night time and affords the visitor an excellent view from "the mess" - the lounge and dining area. Elephant, buffalo, lion and leopard regularly visit and look superbly dramatic in the soft light. Meals consist of wholesome farmhouse fare, and a friendly and capable staff takes care of laundry and housekeeping. Accommodation comprises of two rustic double bedroom cottages - each with private bath facilities.
