PolePole Resort Location

The resort is on one of the islands off Zanzibar, Mafia Island, overlooking Chole, Juani and Jibondo Islands. It is 25km from the main island of Zanzibar and 130 km from Dar es Salaam. The island has its own airstrip.

Mafia Island was Tanzania's frst marine park, declared in 1995. It is currently supported by WWF to maintain this pristine environment. It is an archipelago, where islands and coral reefs bring together large oceanic fish as well as the smaller fish found in the coral reefs of the Indian Ocean. In fact, there are over 400 species of fish for snorkellers and divers to enjoy, The islands themselves are characterised by lush tropical vegetation and diverse wildlife including dwarf hippopotamuses, monkeys, small antelopes and more. Birdlife is also worth looking out for, with water-loving birds such as fish eagles.

There are only ten luxuriously and breezily decorated bungalows, guaranteeing personalised service. Each bungalow is raised on stilts and has its own verandah, letting in the sea breeze and giving you gorgeous views of the crystal blue ocean. Furnishings are a combination of the beautiful local tropical woods and imported Italian fittings and furnishings. The restaurant prides itself on the gourmet standard of its meals, and attentive service.
