Pafuri Camp Location
Pafuri Camp is situated between the Limpopo and the Luvuvhu Rivers in the northern sector of the Kruger National Park, in a 24 000 hectare area called the Pafuri or the Makuleke. This area is the ancestral home of the Makuleke people and is the most diverse and scenically attractive area in the Kruger National Park.

Pafuri Camp Activities
Wildlife Game Drives Self Drive Walking Culture Photography Birding Luxury Tented Camp Mountain Biking Swimming Pool Price Range - Southern Africa: $400 - $600 Child Friendly

Pafuri Camp Attractions
This area is certainly the wildest and most remote part of the Park and offers varied vegetation, great game viewing, the best birding in all of the Kruger Park, and is filled with folklore of the early explorers and ancient civilisations. Being so different from the rest of the Park, it compliments the scenery and experience offered at the lodges in the southern Kruger and the Sabi Sands. So to experience the Kruger in its entirety, travellers visiting any of the lodges in the south should then travel up to the Pafuri / Makuleke region.

Pafuri Camp Facilities
Accommodation consists of 20 tented rooms (including six family rooms for up to four people). These are East African-style "Meru" tents that can accommodate two people comfortably per tent. Each tent has en-suite facilities and each tented room is under a shaded canopy under canvas. Guests will have the option to book any one of our activities during their stay, including game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives throughout the concession, birding walks, foot safaris and mountain biking with an armed guide.

Pafuri Camp Additional Information
Activities in the Makuleke/Pafuri area are extremely varied and interesting. Even though we are within the Kruger Park we are allowed the freedom to show our guests the best of the area. Game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives, walks, hides (including some that will cater for sleep-outs, mountain biking (with armed guides naturally) are all part of the range of activities that are on offer. One of the most important options available are the paleo-anthropological activities and lectures. This area could become one of the most important areas in all of Africa for paleo work. There is plenty of evidence of early man stretching back some 2 millions years ago right up to about 400 years ago when the Tulamela dynasty ruled in this area. They constructed walls and other structures that are not dissimilar to what is found in the Great Zimbabwe. There are rock engravings, hand tools and maybe even burial grounds here.
