Map of Namibia, Southern Africa - Area 824 268 square kilometres.
Capital City: Windhoek
This is a multicultural society with many groups of people speaking different languages. Bantu language speakers (Herero, Ovambo, Kavango, Tswana and Caprivi people) live mostly north of Windhoek and are by far the majority. The Khoisan peoples( San, Damara and Nama) live in the drier regions and there are Nama communities distributed throughout the south. The speakers of English, Afrikaans and German and people of mixed origin live mostly in the urban areas.
The extensive dry regions of Namibia, with its unnaturally straight borders, has the driest climate in Africa south of the equator. The Namib costal desert and the ocean along the west coast, which stretches for 1500km yields Namibia's most important exports, diamonds, uranium and fish. The scenic diversity and hospitable locals make Namibia a fine destination to discover.
