The natural freshwater lake, Groenvlei, once home to hippos, provides visitors with excellent Black Bass fishing and boating opportunities. This scenic lake is a haven for birds such as the Brownhooded Kingfisher and Darter. Guided nature walks through the dense woodland of the indigenous Milkwood forests in the adjacent pristine Goukamma Nature & Marine Reserve can be arranged, where outstanding views of the rugged coastline and fine displays of fynbos make this a memorable experience. The reserve supports prolific birdlife and a variety of lichen, grasses and majestic Milkwood trees. Rare African Black Oyster catchers are a breathtaking site skimming over the ocean. Cruises are on offer on our boat “Yellowbill”.
