Sheltering below the plunging walls of the Great Rift Valley tucked in an evergreen forest on bird-rich Lake Manyara.
Lake Manyara National Park is where Ernest Hemingway camped on the hunting safari that inspired his book, Green Hills of Africa.

Stilted tree-houses are cradled in the boughs of mahogany trees ensuring privacy for all guests.
Built of timber and makuti (palm fronds), with timber walls and floors, the Interiors are bleached, earthy and stylishly understated using neutral colours and textures. The furniture reflects contemporary lines and the interiors celebrate the rich diversity of Manyara.
The rooms are spacious with comfortable lounging areas on the decks.
The tree houses have twin beds, which are convertible to double beds. The bathroom is en suite with a bath, outdoor shower, twin hand basins, hot and cold water and toilet. A selection of guest amenities is provided.
Guest areas are intimate and cosy yet seat 20 people comfortably and overlook a forest boma with an interactive kitchen.
Simple, delicious, wholesome food – unpretentious and prepared in the pizza oven, in the presence of guests in the boma.
The Lodge has a craft shop featuring signature community craftwork, and a pool.
A lakeshore sala is used for dinners, picnic lunches and sundowners.
Water is drawn from a borehole.
Guests are introduced to the history of the Park and to the local legend of Ian Douglas Hamilton
and his renowned research into elephants.

Interpretive guided nature walks in the forest, along a perennial river down to the lakeshore, escorted by Maasai askaris.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge Children Policy Children are welcome, although travel to Tanzania is not recommended for children younger than 8 years old. Regretfully children 5 years and younger cannot participate in the regular game drives. Child minders can be booked at an additional cost.
