Due to the presence of Kayila's own anti-poaching team, game management, and the re-introduction of species such as Puku - game viewing on the sanctuary is superb. Elephant, Zebra, Buffalo, Kudu, Waterbuck, Leopard, Lion and Hyena are regularly sighted. The birdlife is prolific due to the diverse combination of riverine and escarpment habitats, with over 350 species recorded in the area.

At Kayila there are three twin thatched en-suite lodges, the honeymoon suite, a double-lodge and, built 30 feet up an African Sausage tree ( Kigelia Africana ) - the Treehouse. There is a central lounge and dining area with a natural rock-plunge pool. Power for the lodge is primarily sourced from solar panels with backup generators.
