Kapama Buffalo Camp Location
Kapama Private Nature Reserve is situated in the Northern Province and was proclaimed a private nature reserve in December 1993. Covering approximately 12 000 hectares of prime big game territory, Kapama Private Nature Reserve has succeeded in combining the wilderness of the bush with the comforts of five-star hospitality and facilities.
The name comes from Kapama, a Swazi king, whose tribe inhabited and hunted the northern Drakensberg mountain region around Marieskop back in the 1880's.

Kapama Buffalo Camp Attractions
Kapama Private Nature Reserve covers 12 000 hectars of undisturbed bushveld in prime Big Five country. The reserve enjoys panoramic views of the nearby Drakensberg mountain range and is only 40 km from the Kruger National Park.
The reserve is central to most of the scenic areas of Mpumalanga province.
Hoedspruit Airport lies just outside the reserve with a private entrance into Kapama Private Nature Reserve.
A game relocation program was introduced and the reserve now supports a wide variety of game including elephants, buffalo, rhinoceros, and a large population of giraffe, impala, blue wildebeest and kudu. Predators include lion, leopard, cheetah, spotted hyena and many smaller.
Kapama Buffalo Camp Facilities
Kapama Buffalo Camp is ideally suited to those who wish to experience the essence of the bushveld without compromising on comfort.
Eight luxury canvas tents, each sleeping two guests, are set on stilts in the upper reaches of tall trees, overlooking a seasonal river. Each tent has private bathroom facilities and is interconnected to other tents by wooden walkways high above a sandy river bed. Hot water is provided by an ingenious and effective African boiler.
Set in an indigenous garden, the accommodation facilities, thatched bar, dining-room and campfire area contribute to the intimate ambience of the camp. At night, lanterns, rather than electric lights, glow under the canopy of treetops. The camp's refreshing swimming pool offers respite from the heat of the African summer or the day's adventures may be shared in the cool open-air bar with its spectacular view over the river bed.
Since the camp accommodates only 16 guests, special attention is devoted to personalised service. With the guidance of knowledgeable game rangers and its unrivalled comfort, BUFFALO CAMP is a truly authentic way to experience the African bush.
