Hartford’s beauty was discovered by Sir Frederick Moor’s family when the land was granted to them by Queen Victoria in the mid 1870s. Sir Frederick was the last prime minister of the Colony of Natal and the property is now part of the greater Summerhill estate.
The estate is the largest thoroughbred horse stud in the region. The Sheikh Maktoum of the ruling family of Dubai boards his prime stallions on the property.
