Lusaka is the capital and international gateway to Zambia - a country which is fast becoming a sought after destination in Southern Africa.
The visitor can reach Lusaka by scheduled air flight from Johannesburg, Harare or Windhoek, and if it is necessary to overnight, the city does have some comfortable hotels.
Travel by road in Zambia is treacherous, with the result that most visitors use air charter - either scheduled or private - to reach destinations like Kafue and Lower Zambezi National Parks, from Lusaka.
