Malawi's Capital City
LILONGWE is the capital city of Malawi, a nation of intense beauty and friendly people. Most travelers to Malawi will enter at Lilongwe off a flight from London, Johannesburg or Harare. However, Lilongwe is also the springboard for safaris to neighboring Zambia's magnificent Luangwa National Park, with regular flights to Mfuwe.
From Lilongwe, the visitor intending to explore this country, will take a scheduled or private charter flight to Liwonde National Park or Salima on the shores of Lake Malawi. As such, Lilongwe is primarily used only as a necessary stopover if the traveler must overnight between destinations.
