Where Three Countries Meet
LAKE Victoria, the largest of all African Lakes, is also the second widest freshwater body in the world. Its extensive surface belongs to the three countries; the northern half to Uganda, the southern half to Tanzania, and part of the northeastern sector to Kenya.

The Tanzanian sector is rarely visited, as most visitors to the lake go the Ugandan and Kenyan sectors - which is calmer and has more to offer for the visitor.
The lake can be rather hazardous with huge storms sinking ferries and fishing boats. To avoid this make sure your means of travel on the lake is safe and seaworthy.
The lake shore is highly indented, and there are many isles in the lake, some of which, especially the Sesse Group, are known for their beautiful landscape, health resorts and sightseeing places. The three major villages situated in this tropical environment are Musoma, Bukoba and Mwanza; all three are your typical "laid-back" sleepy villages.
