Bougainvillea Safari Lodge Location

Bougainvillea is located in the village of Karatu, near the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, less than two hours from Kilimanjaro International Airport, and with easy access to Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara National Park, and the Serengeti.

Ngorongoro crater hosts almost every species in the region except giraffe (they can’t negotiate the steep incline down.) There are lion, cheetah, hippo, plains species and a myriad of birds. The 102 sq mile floor is surrounded by the intact crater walls rising up over 1,000 ft to the rim.

The rooms are generously proportioned, with comfortable beds. The food is excellent, and the lovely garden atmosphere gives you plenty of room to relax, take a walk, or explore Karatu itself.
