The Waterberg mountains lie north of Pretoria (new name: Tshwane) in a malaria free region, so it is ideal for family safaris and many of the accommodations provide excellent opportunities for youngsters to discover the bush and learn about wildlife through exciting pursuits and activities. Getting there is an easy three to four hour drive from Johannesburg, but light aircraft or helicopter transfers are also available. If wishing to stick entirely to the malaria free safari circuit, we recommend that you combine Waterberg with Madikwe.
