Damaraland is home to the elusive black rhino, which roam the rugged terrain in search of grazing along with desert elephant, Oryx and other wildlife. The area is rugged and dominated by surreal mountains and rock formations carved over the millennia, but within this grand environment are a few oasis of comfort for the traveler, among them Damaraland and Palmwag Camps. The cheetah project at Okonjima is also well worth a visit.

Damaraland can be reached by self driving in a 4x4 jeep, but the quickest way in is by air charter from Windhoek.
