Bwindi forest is home to the half the world's population of Mountain Gorillas. Reduced to a mere 300 of these magnificent primates, the gorillas are broken into about a dozen groups, and are the reason travelers embark on the strenuous hike across rugged terrain of Bwindi.

It is never a certainty that travelers will view the gorillas, but there are lots of other things to do and see in the Impenetrable Forest, including 120 species of mammals, an abundance of birdlife and numerous species of butterflies.
