Built in 1905 by a former mayor of Bulawayo, Theodore Holdengarde, the Nesbitt Castle is made entirely of hand-hewn rock and has walls thicker than the span of a man's arms. The Nesbitt's carefully set about restoring it to it's former glory and have succeded in making it a comfortable home away from home, with extensive beautifully manicured gardens and rooms decorated with the comfort of a bygone era in mind.

There is a choice of only nine bedrooms, each entirely different from the others and individually furnished in an old colonial style. These unusual rooms are renowned for their uniqueness and comfort. Management and staff always do their absolute best to ensure that your personal needs are catered for. Non-intrusive service will make sure that your stay here is both comfortable and relaxing. The Nesbitt Castle provides meals of a Cordon Bleu standard which are available in the main dining room, "The Coach House" or in the magnificent gardens. Other features of the establishment that appeal to discerning guests are the crystal clear swimming pool and sauna. There is also an old colonial Smoking Room, a well equipped Billiard Room and a library.

Steam trains are alive and well in Bulawayo, the railway museum has an outstanding collection of historic locomotives. West of the city lie the ruins of Khame, stronghold of the Torwa state that florished in the 16th century. Matobo National Park, is the famous burial place of colonial leaders including Cecil Rhodes. Some of the domes of rock form gigantic caves where San-dwellers have left exquisite rock paintings. Other attractions in Bulawayo include the excellent natural history museum, the botanical gardens, the theatre and art galleries.
