▼ ATTRACTIONS
This is a birder's paradise, with over 400 species recorded. In addition, the area is host to about 30,000 Kafue Lechwe, 2,000 Blue Wildebeest and 700 Zebra. Greater Kudu, Bushbuck, Oribi, Hippo, Reedbuck and Waterbuck are also present. An ornithologist/safari guide will be on hand. Lochinvar National Park is one of Africa's premier wetlands and has been designated a World Heritage site. The World Wildlife Fund has entered into a tripartite co-operative with ZAWA & Star of Africa, and has pledged considerable support to the Park. This support will mean improved roads, stepped-up anti-poaching and the re-introduction of some lost wildlife species. Its an exciting time at Lochinvar not only because of the above developments but, in addition, all the migrant birds are returning to join their non travelling cousins, to once again blacken the skies with their sheer numbers and delight us with their aerial dances.

▼ FACILITIES
Lechwe offers six spacious, uniquely contracted tents. These are huge canvas fantasies, airy and light with muslin draped ceilings a la Bedouin. Each tent has private facilities with double basins, shower and bath. The bed is a sturdy teak sleigh bed, softened by frothy muslin curtains and mosquito nets. A writing desk and chaise longue add to the feeling of lavishness. The shady veranda is the ideal twitching spot, each one looking out over these rich birding waters. The comfortable main dining room and lounge reflect the area's avian flavour, with opulent burnt orange ostrich leather cushions casually strewn on restful armchairs, elegant lamps highlighted by feather lampshades and everywhere bird sculptures. All meals are table d'hote with a wide selection of dishes. Meals will be served outdoors whenever possible and often around a log fire in the evening.
