Mozambique
is a self-drive travelers dream. The
road network has gone through extensive
upgrades and access to white tropical
beach resorts, tropical countryside
and fascinating way of life is very
good.
The distances between destinations are
fairly near. The main E1 route continues
from north to south all the way along
the Indian Ocean coastline.
If you intend to venture beyond the
main route it is advised that you use
a suitable off-road vehicle.
Maputo, the main city of Mozambique
has a reasonable infrastructure. Cars
and 4x4 vehicles must be hired from
South Africa - for cars, the closest
depot to the Mozambique border is Nelspruit.
Overland vehicles and campers are hired
in Johannesburg. There are cross border
fees to incur. |
